Componize 6.0.0 updates the framework and Alfresco integration for Alfresco 23.2.1, Spring 6, Jakarta XML Binding, and Java 17.

Release details

Technical changes

  • Updated the framework and repository integration for Alfresco Community 23.2.1 and Share 23.2.1.
  • Updated the codebase for Spring Framework 6 and Java 17.
  • Removed obsolete Spring @Required annotations and the associated post-processor configuration.
  • Migrated XML Binding and transaction-related imports from Javax to Jakarta.
  • Replaced maven-jaxb2-plugin with jaxb2-maven-plugin 3.1.0.
  • Replaced the previous AspectJ Maven plugin with org.codehaus.mojo:aspectj-maven-plugin and set its compliance level to Java 17.
  • Removed obsolete Eclipse M2E lifecycle-mapping configuration.

Bug Fixes

  • Corrected a whitespace-sensitive pipeline configuration assertion.
  • Added missing Log4j runtime and test dependencies to affected framework modules.

Compatibility changes

  • Updated Spring Framework from 5.3.27 to 6.0.14.
  • Replaced Javax XML Binding 2.3.1 with Jakarta XML Binding API 4.0.0 and JAXB Runtime 4.0.3.
  • Updated Componize Parent and Componize Software to version 9.
  • Updated Componize License from version 4 to version 5 and Uplift from 0.3.12 to 0.3.13.
  • Removed the direct javax.servlet-api dependency.
  • Removed Alfresco MVC 7.5.1 because it was not compatible with Spring 6.
  • The REST controllers for VCS tags and multiselect check-in/check-out were consequently removed in this release. They are restored in Componize Alfresco 6.1.2.
  • The componize-aether module is built as a standalone framework module rather than in the main reactor.

  • Updated Alfresco and ACS packaging from 7.4.0.1 to 23.2.1.
  • Updated Spring Surf from 8.47 to 9.0 and AspectJ from 1.9.9.1 to 1.9.20.1.
  • Updated Jackson to 2.15.2, Gson to 2.10.1, Guava to 32.1.2-jre, ICU4J to 73.2, and JSON Path to 2.9.0.
  • Updated Commons Codec to 1.16.0, Commons IO to 2.14.0, Commons Compress to 1.26.0, and Commons Lang to 3.13.0.
  • Updated Log4j to 2.20.0, PDFBox and FontBox to 2.0.29, Tika to 2.9.1, and Woodstox to 6.5.1.

Branch comparison

Because later 5.4 maintenance tags were published after 6.0.0, the following changes are not present in the 6.0.0 tags:

  • The DITA-OT export pipeline and c:param-set support.
  • Copy-step actualUri reporting and issue 30274 link-copy corrections.
  • The user-specific permissions API.
  • The clustered active-user persistence workaround from Alfresco 5.4.6.
